Many Jamaicans find value in using common plants for their illnesses.
Normally referred to as folk music a lot of Jamaicans still believe in the practice.
A wide variety of medicinal-plants are used for the purpose. The plants, leaves and roots are used and they are mainly used as teas and in some cases the whole fruits are also used.
For external ailments parts are mixed as ointments and poultices and placed on the affected areas on the body.
However though some plants are found to be harmless, many are dangerous as they contain toxins and poisons and so the quantity and the duration of application and use has to be monitored .
